PLAY EM ALL TOUR POSTPONED

Posted by playemalltour on August 4, 2008

Due to the fuel prices and the record rise in prices for everything we consume the tour will be postponed indefinitely. I of course wish to see this happen, and have worked tirelessly to put this thing together. When I started this effort the budget was 50,000 dollars and that was a shoestring budget at best. Now the estimated cost of the tour is 78,000 dollars! What I dont want to do is get on the road for a few weeks or months and run out of cash. I am working on some alternative sponsorship, but will not know if it will happen for a few weeks. Needless to say that I am very disappointed with this situation, but I am also very gratefull to the sponsors to date and the 200+ discgolfers that have offered to put me up when I am to be on the road. I will update the progress in a couple weeks. THANK YOU EVERYONE, and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

TELL ME A STORY!

Posted by playemalltour on June 11, 2008

I would like to hear from the masses out there how the bogus gas prices are affecting you! From the mundane to the heartbreaking, I want to know your story! Are you fed up with all of this malarkey, where are the leaders? Soon we will be going through what the Europeans are going through. This week most of the truck drivers stopped on the highways and parked their trucks in the traffic lanes and refuse to deliver goods to stores, restaurants, businesses, and even gas stations are not getting fuel. They are paying up to 9.50/gallon for diesel! People can not get gas to commute to their jobs, grocery stores are running out of food, restaurants have no meat or produce, and automobile manufacturers are shutting down for lack of parts! Hey, WAKE UP AMERICA, this is what we have to look forward to. It is criminal to do what is being done to us, we can do something about it! It starts here! If you get a moment go to www.youtube.com and search 3 ways to lower gas prices. I suggest that we declare the 4th of July as ENERGY INDEPENDENCE DAY. It is not an original idea of mine but I wholeheartedly agree with it! This is an election year and we have a captive audience with the politicians, lets take advantage of it. We must relax the exploration restrictions, and maintain ecological protection. We actually have three times the oil reserves as the Saudis, but the law says we cant touch it. The reserves are not the complete answer, we have to invest in alternative sources NOW, not later! GOD BLESS US ALL!!!!!

The Mission at Hand

Posted by playemalltour on June 5, 2008

I wanted to post a reminder if what this is all about. It seems like the message gets lost when people look at the site and dont read the info page. The reason for this effort is to raise awareness of our sport. Through press, radio and television the sport will get exposure as the tour proceeds across America. The other side of this tour is that we intend to have fifty fund raiser tournaments for the E.D.G.E. program. The goal is to raise about $20,000 for the kids. If you are not familiar with the E.D.G.E. program check it out at www.egdediscgolf.org. If you think you can help or have ideas on how the tour can get more sponsorship or support please feel free to contact me at alanb@mindspring.com. Also along the way GPS coordinates will be gathered at the first tee pad at each course and provided to the PDGA for the course directory, and general info will be updated about the courses. These efforts will benifit all golfers as they look to find new courses to play as they travel. Thank you for stopping by!

The Tour Needs Your Help!

Posted by playemalltour on June 3, 2008

As the time draws near for the tour to start I am asking for direct sponsorship from the disc golf community. The bulk of my sponsorship so far has been incentive based relating to the number of courses I play along the way. I need some funds to get this on the road. With the cost of fuel rising and the economy being very sluggish my efforts so far have yeilded only a small amount of cash in hand. If you think you can help please contact me at alanb@mindspring.com or call me at 520-437-3786.

A CALL TO ARMS!

Posted by playemalltour on May 30, 2008

I have been planning this tour for about 9 months now, and when I started gas in my hometown was about 2.26 a gallon. This part of the country traditionally has the lowest prices in the nation. I used a worst case scenario price of 3.50 a gallon to figure the fuel budget for the tour. At that figure the tour would require about $14,500 for fuel. Now I have recalculated based on several sources that anticipate gas prices averages for the next three years and the new figure for fuel is about $25,000. I cant believe that we as a nation have allowed this to happen. Their is no reason for the dramatic increases in fuel, all of the experts agree. So I ask how long are we going to take this lying down! Our leaders have to see what is going on out there. I have friends that cant afford continue with their businesses because of the fuel costs we all face. The number of semi drivers filing for bankruptcy in the first quarter of this year have set a record, costs of consumers goods are rising at a record pace as well. I am an optimistic person, but reality is setting in that we as a nation are about to enter a time of turmoil like we have never seen before! Shouldnt we be getting oil from Iraq for about a dollar a barrell? We kept Sadaam from running over one of the richest oil countries in the world a few years ago(KUWAIT) are they repaying the favor? If we werent there back about 10 years ago they wouldnt even be a sovereign state anymore! But instead we are getting it stuck to us by not only the oil producers but our own American owned oil companies. I do not know what the solution is, but I am sure it is going to get alot worse before it gets better. It sucks that we are hooked on oil as a nation, it sucks that we as a nation havent rallied for non-carbon based fuel alternatives. My dream is in jeopardy and I cant just be quiet anymore! Alot of time and effort from alot of people have gone into this tour and it breaks my discgolf loving heart to think that our government is letting this happen. It will always be remembered on whos watch this happened!

Lighthouse Disc Golf Club/ Levelland,Tx

Posted by playemalltour on May 5, 2008

These guys in Texas are crazy in the best possible way! I just recieved a letter and a donation of one hundred dollars from the Lighthouse Disc Golf club in Levelland,Tx. And as the club name says they have a lighthouse that comes into play on their signature hole #1. The lighthouse is 9 feet tall and the basket is mounted on top with a custom bottom to the basket that allows the disc to fall through into and down the lighthouse to the bottom. Rocky Lawless has promised me a picture of the lighthouse to post on here soon!
