A CALL TO ARMS!

I have been planning this tour for about 9 months now, and when I started gas in my hometown was about 2.26 a gallon. This part of the country traditionally has the lowest prices in the nation. I used a worst case scenario price of 3.50 a gallon to figure the fuel budget for the tour. At that figure the tour would require about $14,500 for fuel. Now I have recalculated based on several sources that anticipate gas prices averages for the next three years and the new figure for fuel is about $25,000. I cant believe that we as a nation have allowed this to happen. Their is no reason for the dramatic increases in fuel, all of the experts agree. So I ask how long are we going to take this lying down! Our leaders have to see what is going on out there. I have friends that cant afford continue with their businesses because of the fuel costs we all face. The number of semi drivers filing for bankruptcy in the first quarter of this year have set a record, costs of consumers goods are rising at a record pace as well. I am an optimistic person, but reality is setting in that we as a nation are about to enter a time of turmoil like we have never seen before! Shouldnt we be getting oil from Iraq for about a dollar a barrell? We kept Sadaam from running over one of the richest oil countries in the world a few years ago(KUWAIT) are they repaying the favor? If we werent there back about 10 years ago they wouldnt even be a sovereign state anymore! But instead we are getting it stuck to us by not only the oil producers but our own American owned oil companies. I do not know what the solution is, but I am sure it is going to get alot worse before it gets better. It sucks that we are hooked on oil as a nation, it sucks that we as a nation havent rallied for non-carbon based fuel alternatives. My dream is in jeopardy and I cant just be quiet anymore! Alot of time and effort from alot of people have gone into this tour and it breaks my discgolf loving heart to think that our government is letting this happen. It will always be remembered on whos watch this happened!
